Working With Your Gynecologist
What evaluation is required to determine if you are a candidate for Focused Ultrasound? When a woman has symptoms that may suggest fibroids, a diagnostic ultrasound may be ordered by her physician. If fibroids are present, additional testing is performed to determine whether she is a candidate for focused ultrasound. An MRI is performed to assess the size and number of fibroids and their position related to other vital structures in the abdomen. The MRI may be performed at any imaging center convenient to the patient, and the images forwarded by the radiologist to the treating physician for review. If the patient is determined to be a good candidate for focused ultrasound, scheduling arrangements will be made through our facility.
